I’m Kati Michaelis, a freelance illustrator specialized in storytelling and editorial. Born in Berlin, I grew up in São Paulo and have always had a great interest in visualizing content (humorously).

I moved to Germany for my studies, where I got my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz and also started studying Illustration in Brussels. This has led me to move to Hamburg and get my Master’s degree at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg in this area.

Through my studies and professional experiences I have acquired a high variety of application possibilities as well as a style that transcends target groups. The numerous ways of expression and methods fascinate me in my creative profession.

Today I combine all media – from traditional techniques with pen and paper to digital image editing and layout programs.

No matter whether it is about making an issue understandable or a simple drawing, I am always passionate when it comes to my work. High quality and professional work are most important to me.

Since 2016 I live with my family in the south of Cologne.

In addition to commissioned work, I lecture at the Kölner Design Akademie in the areas of „drawing“ and „mixed media“ since April 2020 .
